Uranus, the planet of Rebellion, just went retrograde on July 15th 2013 and it will be having a challenging Square to Pluto on July 27th. Although we have all these wonderful aspects with the Grand Water Trine, our whole range of emotions are getting accessed, so it is good to know about these impulses that are simultaneously getting trigged right now…
Here are some great Astral Insights on this. First from Sarah Varcas from Astro-Awakenings.uk:
“As we all know, Uranus is currently in a lengthy square dance with Pluto, bringing about upheaval and change on a grand scale both personally and globally. There are peaks and troughs in their action but essentially, from 2012 through 2015, we’re in a profound time of shift during which any aspect of our life which no longer reflects or honors who we are, is being right royally sorted whether we like it or not…”
“With that in mind, this turn about of Uranus at the time of the Grand Trine in Water is of particular significance. As the ruling planet of Aquarius, Uranus is ruler of our new age and is eager to get on with the job, not being prone to patience and all…”
“When retrograde, Uranus pushes us back into ourselves, not to hide from and avoid the outside world, but to encounter and interact with our internal one. It reminds us that what we find ‘out there’ usually has its roots within us and until we can uncover those roots and do what needs to be done with them, we will forever experience ourselves as victims of life rather than its creators.”
Uranus is always eager to cut us loose and free, wanting only that we act with complete integrity in each moment of our lives, not once sacrificing authenticity in favour of acceptance and approval. But this is a tall order and one that we may struggle with on a daily basis for all kinds of reasons.”
“Not least because we may be well aware that some or even many of our impulses are significantly problematic in the light of everyday life. Much as we may want to slap someone for being so ignorant/irritating/obstructive or just downright rude, doing so as an act of authenticity is probably not the best use of Uranian power…!”
“So as Uranus takes us on an inner voyage of discovery, it is precisely these issues that it begins to raise, asking us to contemplate how to do and be the lightening power of Uranus without striking dead all and everyone who crosses our path! It’s so vital we get to grips with this now. Emotions and feelings have been gaining strength and power of late as the Grand Trine in Water brings deep healing to this area of our lives, but in doing so it brings to our attention many of our less ‘acceptable’ aspects, those bits of us that we really DO NOT want to have to admit to, let alone deal with! Tough!”
We have to deal with them and now’s the time. We have to face the part of us that feels superior to others, smug in its rightness; the part of us that feels such deep anger it could kill; the bit of us that harbours unpleasant secrets we share with no one, ever. We have to face the fact that there are all kinds of impulses that live within us which forever remind us of just how ‘unacceptable’ we could be if we really let rip!”
“But in cahoots with Pluto, Uranus loves all these bits and particularly enjoys prodding and poking at them until we can’t ignore them a moment longer. Suddenly they’re right there: the anger and the jealousy, those judgemental thoughts and behaviours, violent impulses towards ourselves and others, addictions, obsessions… you know, all those things we don’t like to talk about, especially when we’re being ‘spiritual’! Well… Uranus wants us to talk about them, to own up, starting with owning up to ourselves.”
“It wants us to know that this is part of being human and the shame which keeps these things hidden and denied is one of the most insidiously destructive forces in the universe. This shame has no place in our lives anymore. There is no room for it in the Aquarian Age. It’s a thing of the past and we need to ensure we leave it where it belongs.”
“This is a challenging road ahead, a powerful one. It has many peaks and troughs as it winds onwards into our future. We are walking it together, each with our own load that we need to shed as we go. My issues may be different to yours but they’re issues none the less and the more we can each accept the other for what we are, in all our flawed humanity, the better able we will be to recognise and respond to the bright potential that lives at the heart of each one of us.”

From the wonderful Kelley Rosano:
“The check is served on July 27 when Saturn makes an exact square (challenge) to the Sun. There is a price to pay with Saturn.  Saturn is the supreme builder. Neptune gives you the vision. Saturn shows you how to construct the road to your dreams. There are consequences to our choices. For instance, we cannot be wasting our precious time, energy and resources in unproductive areas. This will not take us to our goals.  Scorpio rules emotional truth. Saturn will expose the lies.  Squares in astrology mark turning points.  You can be at the fork in the road. One path must be chosen. The other left behind.  Squares compel us to make real changes.”
  • What needs to change?
  • What do you need to release to move forward?
  • What goals are you ready to realize?
“Mars in Cancer forms a difficult aspect (T-Square) to Pluto and Uranus July 27-31. This energy is double trouble. Mars is in his detriment in Cancer. Fireworks can be going off in every direction. We could be highly reactive. This dynamic can bring old issues to a head. Rehashing the past is not useful unless we bring a fresh perspective. Some people can be trouble looking for a place to happen. We want to avoid power struggles.”
“If you are feeling blocked or frustrated. You can channel your energy into working out.  A project that requires a strong physical focus can be productive. Center on what is working, communicate neutrally and work to find a compromise that creates a win-win for all concerned. Practice extreme Self-care. The stronger we are the more we can handle in a balanced way. We can choose to be proactive and not reactive.”

From Cathy Pagano from her Wisdom of Astrology:
“The last week of July will be intense as Mars in Cancer opposes Pluto in Capricorn and squares Uranus in Aries.  Watch some long-standing issues come to a head and beware of jumping to conclusions without getting all the information.  This volatile combination can give rise to power struggles.  Are they worth it?  When you become a vessel of power, which is the feminine way of handling power, there are no struggles.  Just an easy flow of handing power around the circle.”

From Lynn Hayes from Astrodynamics.net:
“It’s the role of Uranus to wake us up from the stupor of our day to day unconsciousness.  In order to do that he sometimes brings about a shocking or surprising event that startles us awake and forces us to look at uncomfortable truths in our lives.”
“Some of us find it easier to express our inner radical than others.  If Uranus is strong in your chart you may be a rebel at heart and resist authority without blinking an eye.  For those with more conservative planetary structures, such as a preponderance of Virgo or Capricorn or a watery chart which seeks to preserve security rather than make waves, the risks required in standing up to authority and walking away from repression may seem to great.”
“When Uranus retrogrades the impulse to rebel and stand alone becomes stronger and more intense.  The things that you may have been able to ignore before will take up more of your consciousness and demand attention.  This is especially true for those of you with planets between 5 and 15 degrees of the cardinal signs: Libra, Aries, Cancer and Capricorn.”
“Uranus will be retrograde until December 17th, and during this time he will make the fourth of seven total exact squares to Pluto..Because the apparent motion of planets (from our perspective on earth) slows as they prepare to change direction, Uranus has been relatively still for the last couple of weeks and will continue to be at a virtual standstill.”
“ Mars in Cancer will be within range of a challenging square to Uranus over the next two weeks and it is advisable to be somewhat cautious during this time.  Mars can inflame the dormant radical behavior of Uranus to the point where actions explode in ways that we never intended.”
“The less we allow resentment and anger to build up during this next couple of weeks the better we will be.  Exercise to release the physical energy of Mars is helpful, as is direct communication where necessary.  While Uranus is retrograde it is advisable to see where your life needs changing.”
